RICKARD ENGINEERING – FACADE ENGINEERING EXPERTS
By understanding the strategic aims of a project in its earliest stages, we can engineer the building envelope to achieve the best outcome. Rickard Engineering specialises in facades that are easily assembled and can be procured with the minimum impact on cost and risk factors. Our 20+ years of engineering expertise has created the platform to efficiently engineer facades of significant projects both in Australia and across the globe.
We invest in people who have significant industry experience, developing ideas to apply resource-saving, engineering outcomes that don’t compromise structural integrity. Our combined experience is brought together in one of the industry’s most robust portfolios, which is a critical guide to the successful design and delivery of every project. Our services include:
- Market leading structural and specialist engineering solutions
- Structural material and solution services
- Technical and consulting services

Curtain Wall Engineering Specialists
Using curtain wall construction in a commercial building façade offers many advantages including thermal and acoustic efficiency and glare reduction in addition to adding value to the finished structure.
The key benefits of facades with curtain wall construction include:
- Can be used either to block light or allow light to penetrate deeper into the building (glass materials enable this)
- Provide additional sound insulation from the outside of the building
- Reduce water and moisture penetration into the building
- Providing a unique and more elegant look to the building facade
Rickard Engineering has specialised in façade engineering and more specifically curtain wall construction for over 20 years and it’s this experience that allows us to create innovative engineering solutions to some of the most challenging projects as illustrated in our portfolio
Rickard Engineering Facade Projects
Australia 108
The tallest building in the southern hemisphere, Australia 108 is a new residential development in Melbourne by Brookfield Multiplex. Rickard Engineering was the façade engineer to Minesco who supplied the aluminium and glass curtain wall.
The curved geometry of the façade and large displacement of the building meant it was essential for special considerations to be made with regard to façade/building movements and the interaction between the two.
The “Star Burst” design between Levels 69 and 72 was highly complicated and is constructed with aluminium panels and glazing panels installed on trusses.
Al Rayyan Stadium
Rickard Engineering is designed the façade for the new ‘Al Rayyan’ Football Stadium in Qatar, together with the Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) roof panels for the 8 “dune” buildings which surround the Stadium, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held. Al Rayyan is a fascinating and complex project with regard to the differing GRP shapes designed and hence variations in connections to cater for the variety of shapes.
380 Melbourne
380 Melbourne is a marquee project located at 380 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. Rickard Engineering designed the stunning and complex curved curtain wall system for the 67 storey building.
Anadara Apartments
Anadara Residences are located in Barangaroo, Sydney. The curved portion of the building is called “The Cloud,” as it features curved sliding perforated aluminium screens which slide into the parking zone at the ends of the building.
The project included more than 20 types of façade elements, from curved sliding panels, to automated louvres, cladding, glass balustrades and perforated ceilings. All engineered by Rickard Engineering.
